Since people learned to speak, also learned about
corporal language; when parents try to teach a baby some words, they use
signals and gestures which could mean something that might help the baby to
understand what they were talking about. One important and significant gesture
they do, unconsciously, is a smile. However, maybe they did not know about the
contributions and benefits of smiling when they taught it to their children.
For that reason, the purpose of this blog is to remark them.
Smiles
before emotions
There is one hypothesis about
smiling and emotions. It is thought that you smile because you are extremely
happy, or maybe too much nervous at different events. However, it is been
proved that what happened is completely opposite. If a person is sad, he is
able to change his humor with a smile; what means that smiling is contagious,
and that is good. Imagine the consequences that smiling would have with a
person who is depressed; probably many smiles in his day could help him a lot.
A
trustworthy person
What is more interesting is that
a smile also means trust. Unconsciously, a person who is smiling is chosen
between people who did not "transmit" his emotions. For example, when
you are going to apply for a job, your friends and family recommend you to be
nice and friendly in your interview; also, when you want to convince someone,
you say your ideas and smile the other person too. Maybe it could be a myth,
but it is effective.
Health
problems
In addition to the arguments,
smiling helps you to see the events in a more positive way. Also, it gives you
the chance of solving your problems easily because you see them with a
different point of view. That's why it could help you with stress problems and
also with the anxiety ones.
In conclusion, smiling is a
powerful tool which helps you emotionally, with trust problems, and why not in
a healthy way. It is amazing to discover that a small muscle movement is
powerful enough to benefit your life and your social relationships too, because
if you feel good with yourself, there is not going to be any matter to share
with someone else.
